Question for COMPAQ laptop users

I was over at my friends, using his COMPAQ laptop, when I noticed that the Windows XP has different look compared to what I have on my system. I tried to look under 'Display Properties' >> 'Appearance', but his settings look pretty much the same as what I have. The icon fonts look clearer and sharper, and everything just looks sharper in general. Is this some sort of setting on XP? Or is this with COMPAQ laptops only?

What looks different? Just the sharpness of the Text on the desktop? Could be the display in his Compaq Laptop is cleaner and sharper! Maybe its the Built in Video that is better on his compaired to yours. If that is all you see then I bet something about his video whether it's the monitor or Video Card is better. There was a setting in 98 that sharpned the font on the desktop a bit or so it said but never seen it under XP. What laptop do you own that looks different?

perhaps he has cleartype enabled, which is a built in feature of windows xp, but doesnt reach its full potential unless you are using an lcd monitor.

hope that helps,

I'll try and take a screenshot of his desktop next time I see him. Not a big deal, it just looks cooler than what I have.... and I am jealous.... :disgust:
