Just some really really general questions I want to ask.

1) is it some kind of special thing going on for this week? (i.e. no meat on fridays..)
especially yesterday and today?

2) when do you guys/gals usually goto church on sundays? and when is it over?

3) are you guys/gals very strict? for example, do you guys avoid drinking and having fun and.. um having sex before marriage?

4) anything else I should know about catholics?

thanx ;)

1) ummm the no meat on fridays is for lent. You do it every week from when Ash Wednesday was all the way until Easter.
2) I DID go from 10-11 sunday mornings
3) Not strict at all
4) We are an alright bunch of people, but too many people try converting others which to me is stupid... Also, as Dogma put it "We dont celebrate our faith, we mourn it"

1) Lent is going on. It has been in effect since Ash Wednesday and it will end on Good Friday, if I'm not mistaken. I'm not Catholic, so I'm not positive, but I know that meat is not allowed on Fridays during Lent.
2) ?
3) My girlfriend doesn't drink, and is Catholic, but she doesn't do it because of religion; it's just a personal choice. It depends, really. Just like any other religion there are degrees of strictness. My girlfriend's parents drink and they like to have a good time, but obviously nuns don't drink.
4) "Cath-o-lic girls start much too late..."

1. there's no meat on fridays during the 40 days of Lent (40 days before Easter).
but, if you have to have beef for health reasons or are elderly or very young,
you can.

2. you can go every day, if you want or need to. we usually go Saturday evening
at 5:30PM or Sunday evening at 7:30PM. each church has a different schedule.
ours has thousands of parishioners & lots of masses.
it usually lasts a little over an hour, although we've gone to some other Catholic
churches where the entire mass lasted 45 minutes.

3. drinking to excess is frowned upon, since it's abusing you're body, which is a gift
from God. moderate drinking is ok. having fun is ok. the church considers sexual activity outside of
heterosexual marriage sinful.

4. make an appointment with a Priest or a Church's director of religious education.
there's also this book, which, despite the title, gives a pretty good summary.

feel free to PM me if you have more questions.
