How would be the best way to ask to use my school's computers (possibly about 24000 mhz or p1s, p2s, and p3s) for a project such as rc5? I tried once before, but never really got around to follwoing up on it, but this would be an awesome addition to the team for about 8 hours a day or so. If i can get any suggestions, that would be great.
 
I guess the only thing I would suggest would be to make sure you mention that it can be run in the background if your school has some issues about the client running in the open.
Also, explain to them what RC5 does. Tell them its a World Wide Distributing project. Tell them that thousands of ppl do this. Tell them how the client works.
You could also try telling them to go to our Editorial and read what we have made to explain the project. And don't forget to mention how fun the stats and how much fun it is to be part of a team such as this.
I don't think it would hurt to mention that doing this project would also help the USofA. 😀

You probably won't get far with RC5 since there is a potential prize to be won. I would think that OGR or Seti would be the way to go as they are more inline with Academia standards (hey, even nerds watch X-Files right? 😛 ).

I would agree with the OGR or SETI approach. That is the biggest hurdle for assimilating a school computer is the "profit motive." Since there is no prize money, there isn't a conflict.

If you're pretty tight with a Math teacher, OGR might be an easy sell. The Science teachers may be easier to sway with SETI. Get a teacher behind or beside you and the System Administrator will probably actually listen to you instead of blowing you off.
 
They asked me what would happen in a work machine found the key. I
told them I would donate the money to the Day Care center at the
place. If you can think of something like that in your
workplace/school it might go over better. Then again if they
don't ask, don't tell. Think of a good speech then present it
in a way that they will see it as a benefit. Salesmanship!
