Ok.. Yesterday.. I made some errors... er I mean changes to my system 😉 in an attempt to link a couple systems together via crossover cable.. in all that.. I made them part of the same workgroup (usually part of a domain). Now I'd like to change my system back to connecting to that domain.. but it won't let me do that.. I don't connect to that particular network but the profile associated with that account has all my stuff 🙂. Is there a way to 'force' my computer into becoming part of a domain it does not see or do I have to reconnect to that network and set it from there? Right now when i go into the network stuff under system info.. it shows both those accounts as 'unknown'. Thanks 🙂.

Using Win2k on both systems btw..

If your biggest concern is losing the profiles, I can tell you how to recover them.
1) Make a new local user on your box.
2) Go to the profile you want to recover, and switch it's name to the same name as the new user.
3) Delete the NTUSER.dat file from the profile.
4) Go back to the root of the profile, and make sure the new user account you just created has permission (full contro) of the profile.
5) Reboot and log on as the new user.

If the profiles were associated with domain accounts, and you have removed the domain, then those accounts are gone. You will need to use a method like the one above if you want to use the profile(s) again.
