Ok -- long story short, I have a contract with AT&T (now Cingular). I think my contract is now month to month, as my plan was a converted plan from AT&T -- i.e. I'm not under any contractual obligations anymore.

My job has offered to buy me a new phone for work, and I chose the Siemens sx66 from Amazon. I'm trying to figure out how I can order a phone from amazon and select a new plan, so I can get the $150 rebate on the phone right now to get it for $379.

I'm new to the cell phone buying world. Anyone know if there's anything I'll have to do special to keep my old number, etc?

I think you just request to the new provider that you want to port your number over.

place like amazon will require you to buy a service plan. that's probably how you can get the phone for $370 with a $150 rebate. if you want to buy that phone without a contract, the phone is about $800ish.

I don't exactly know what you are trying to do, elaborate? buying a phone from amazon with no contract? changing carrier?
