Question Burning with a 40X Burner on a 16X CD-R

what would happen if you burn a 16X CD-R with a 40X burner?

i noticed glitches and skippin when playing the audio 16X CD-R after burning it with a 40X Burner.
is that common? is that why 40X requires a 40X CD-R to burn on ?

thanks

what kind of question is that? Hello Im burning a disk that is made to burn at 16x at 40x and I cant seem to figure out why its not perfectly burned!

well i thought the 16X were only tested at speed of 16X at the time they were made considering the 40X burners didnt come out yet. thats all. thats for your sarcastic answer dreaddogg

high-speed cd-r drive + low speed cd-r media = shady results

i'd back down the recording speed until you find a recording speed on that media that yields perfect results

that, or buy some quality imation discs.....i hear those do 40x perfectly fine, even the 16x imation discs

like i said i got to burn data with 40X perfectly on a 16X cd. as for music, i got 2 outta 5 CDs perfectly burned.
i think i am gonna go look for the 40X CDs for music and use anything for data. does that make sense?

sorry about that I just could not resist! I would like to add that you can find media pretty cheap also I picked up 100 32x speed TDX for like 20 bucks and I would consider that overpaying! Plus if you did burn at 32x you would'nt really notice the difference in time at the most I would say 20 secs. Anyone care to correct that time?

Ya, i got a 40x last week...and i'm burinig at 40x using my 16x cds~~
as for data everthing is perfect till now....burned like 10~15 data cds at 40x without problem...
as for music, i only burned 1, and it was a success~~hopefuly i won't fail on the later 4~~;p

it really really depends on your quality of media and quality or whatever reader u gonnan use it on~~

Humor me for a moment here guys. Exactly how long does it take to burn an entire CD at 40x? Real world times here, seriously. I burn a entire CD at 12x in roughly 6 and half minutes. How long does it take? From the first write to closing the session?

Well, first off, you're aware that there is no true 40X, no true 32X, or no true 24X burner out there, right?

The 40X Plextor can burn a full length CD a little under (EDIT: 4) minutes.

you are right there is no true anything. the speed of the burning is directly porportional with the time of the burning. for example , at the beginin the burner burns slower than at the end of the burn. but anyways, a Lite On copied a cd to a cd in (norton antivirus 2002) in 2:45 minutes. A music CD in 3:04 seconds. thats my liteon.
