Question.... are you able to get 2 Cable Lines (internet access)

Into one single house... and by that i mean like 2 seperate lines so we'd be paying 40-50/ month for each of the connection. Not just 2 ips off one line..

i ask cause we are getting a house with 7 guys.. and i dont think and i know that 1 cable line will not be fun to be on..

it'll work fine w/ 7 guys don't worry. if you have a real concern, just upgrade your service to business class and pay $100 or so. you get more bandwidth.

Comcast offers Comcast Pro, 4 external IP addresses and 6 mbit/560 or so up.

the bandwidth is not limited by the number of coax's going into the house.
it's limited by the tftp packet stored in the modem which allocates bandwidth.
if you need more bandwidth, just split the line and pay for another modem.

Cox usually has 3 levels of service that correspond with a $10-20 price differential at each level.
Check into the level of survice that you are set up for.

You can try getting a cable line and a DSL line and hook both of them up to a bandwidth sharing router. That way if one goes down, you'll have a backup.

yea ... my friend bought two lines. dont know why cuz he could've used a router/hub but he wanted two connections.
comcast charged him an additional $5

We can play 7 people on the Comcast 1.5/256 line at my friend's house with no problems at all.

Download isn't usually a problem, its uploading that usually causes trouble.

We have a 15k/sec upload (~128) and if I'm playing Desert Combat and my roomate is uploading something on Kazaa, I notice lag. I can upload at about 10k/sec to my webspace and not notice a hit on the browsing speed.

u guys arent getting it.

ur not saturating the bandwidth of the coax line so getting 2 lines won't help. coax has more bandwidth than u think.

the limiting factor is the modem and the tftp packet which controls how much bandwidth is allotted per cable modem so just use the same coax line, split it and put another cable modem on it!
