i just set it to broil at medium-high and check on it regularly. i'm sure any setting is ok

I know you can boil it. Thats what my mom does.

Put it in a pot with water, and put the water in the oven, wait until it boils I guess.

Though, I really don't see why you cannot put it in the oven, I'd watch it to be sure it doesn't explode.

aren't hot dogs pretty much cooked already? all the hot dog has to do is warm all the way through.
