Question about your workplace: does your supervisor make the employees cry?

my friend was telling me about how his sister started crying when the supervisor pulled her into the office asking her about how she felt about the workplace (she just got hired like a month ago)...she started crying b/c she hates how the supervisor treats her (always on top of things, strict). Anyhow the supe pulled her in to tell her she's getting an xmas bonus...

then the next girl that got pulled in cried too...


does this happen in your workplace? people crying...?

Some of the women where I work are notorious for crying (literally) to their supervisor, usually when a new policy calls for them to do something that they don't want to do. The stupid thing is most, if not all, of the time they get what they want.

I've seen my supervisor crying, but she has never made any of us cry. She's driven a few to quit, though.

It's work, it's not your life, it's not your family or your friends.
Some people are too emotional but there is also a point that shouldn't be crossed in business. I believe that a manager could make a person cry, be it by a putdown or whatever, and that's not right and that's when it's time to go visit Human Resources (if you have that at your company).

Thankfully I'm not in the loop with the type of management that could/would make people cry. But we do get a lot of crying in here from people's lives outside of work. Death in the family, someone is sick, etc... that's a whole lot different than crying because the boss is too strict, or perceived as being too strict.

i remember my dad fired one woman who had worked for him for 7 or 8 years and she came out crying...but it was a pity cry trying to keep her job. she had gotten lazy and useless and had more than enough chances to straighten up, im glad she cried, she was evil and i wanted to be rid of her...

The last place I used to work, the supervisor was such a loser, most of us would laugh so hard, we would start to cry.

There was a girl that worked in our office. They cut her back to 4.5 hrs a day and told here she must clock out by 11pm but still do all the bills. After the second night, she left after midnight and never came back.

i hate that, women should be instantly fired if they cry at work. its ridiculously unfair to the men.

my boss is a good guy, he's pretty fair, but a couple of the girls will still cry.

There's one girl who has cried because she was having trouble handling the job responsibilities, a couple of times when a coworker yelled at her for incompetence, and a couple of times after she'd been verbally sexually harassed by a coworker and was discussing it with my boss.

There's another girl who's been here a long time and has cried come review time, and several times when she's been called on something she's done wrong. Boss said she's being let go after the new year, been here about 7 years. He gave her every chance in the book to fix things and she never did. He wanted to do it last week. I told him it wasn't fair, and to wait till after the holiday. He didn't listen to me and he was still determined to do it until the big boss convinced him otherwise. He's not from the US, so he sometimes has a hard time understanding things like that., but he's a good fair guy. She's gonna cry like an f'ing banshee when he tells her. I made sure to have him tell me when its going to happen so that I can clear out and avoid drama when it does happen.

one of my coworkers, and also a friend, said that i almost made her cry before when i yelled at her for things she did wrong.

I feel bad whenever i have to yell at anyone at work, esp. this girl because we're friends outside of work, and she's a cutie too, which doesn't hurt either
