Question about XP keys/licensing

Since the time is coming soon where we won't be able to purchase any more XP keys we've been looking at using a few that aren't in service. We have a volume copy of XP Pro with x amount of licenses. We also have a few HP boxes around with COA's on them that actually have Server 03 installed on them I would like to take those keys on the COA's and use them with our disc, is that possible or is it violating terms?

The keys are XP Pro along with our disc as well. I thought I had heard before you had to edit a file on the cd to pissibly do this. Any ideas or is this violating EULA?

OEM licenses are not transferable, so what you're proposing will violate your EULA. If you want to use your volume copy of XP, you'll need to add licenses for it.

Damn that's stupid, we purchased the machines and paid for licenses, we should be able to use them on any machine that is part of the company. Time for a budget increase.

Take the motherboards running server 03 out of the boxes with the xp pro key stickers, and then put new boards into the boxes and install xp pro.

I know, it's not worth the hassle, but it's rather silly how arbitrary the licenses are.

You paid for the licenses at a heavily discounted rate. The limitation of that license is that its not transferable. Retail and volume licenses (which are more expensive) are transferable.
