I sold some stuff on Egay and the guy I sold the stuff to wants to wire me the money directly to my checking account. He wants my bank name and location, the routing number and account number.
Is this safe? Is there any way he would be able to take money out of my account?

Hmm.. Yeah I guess I can do that.
I'll just ask him to mail it, even if it takes a little longer.
Thanks for your input though.

Nope, no way he could take money out... you don't even need to reveal your name to wire money.

MoralPanic,
He said he needs my full name too..
He said this

"...I would be willing to wire you the money to complete our deal. I will make a direct bank transfer to your account if you let me know your bank name and location, the routing number and your account number. Also, the exact name the account is in. I have done this type of transfer before and you should see the money in your account within a couple of hours after I submit it. "

Er, i should clarify that... you don't need your name to wire money to you, but with your name it'll just verify who's getting the money.

But if you're using Ebay, why not use Billpoint, Paypal, Western Union (it's costly though). Those are all fast ways of receiving money.

Like i said, there's no way they could take money out of your account... but if you don't feel safe, get him to use Billpoint (you'll need to sign up for that). That'll be a lot quicker than wiring the money anyways (Paypal takes awhile to register, so he might not have that)... and all he needs is to use his credit card.

Oh one more thing, this is probably a stupid question..
What information do I need to tell him so that he can transfer money into my paypal account?

Hrm.... I wouldn't trust that a bit...
You can transfer money in and out of an account with that info...
