i have 2 computers at home, a desktop and a laptop. if i buy a wireless router-b can i hardwire the 2 computers to the router or will i have to buy seperate wireless cards for each computer? will i be able to share files without any extra programs?
-thanks
Wireless Cable/DSL Routers usually have 4 ports for Wired Computers, and an Antenna to connect to Wireless capable computers.
Wireless Capable Computer is a Computer with a Wireless Lient Card. Wirless Cleint Card is an Item that is sold by itself it is not part of the Router.
should be able to use the 10/100 lan ports just as on any hub/switch and have a network connection setup for it. you can plug a wifi card (compatable with the router) and have another network connection setup for it.
thanks for the info. you seem to know a lot about networking. i am thinking about buying a cheap router maybe this one. but i am not sure what pc card to get for my laptop. i dont want one that sticks out of the laptop and has an antenna on it.
