Mornin' guys.

I have a question about wireless mouses.

I was browsing thru best buy the other day, and i saw a wireless mouse.
inside, there was a mouse, and USB thingy which i assume is the signal receiver.

my question is:

was that little thing an USB bluetooth adapter?
Because i also want to buy an bluetooth dongle for my cell phone, and if the mouse that i saw comes with that dongle, then i dont see a reason why i need to buy a separate bluetooth dongle, when i can just buy the mouse which already comes with bluetooth dongle

this is what i am talking about:

The Kensington Ci60 Wireless Optical Mouse is not Bluetooth, no. It uses a proprietary RF transmission system. If you bought a Bluetooth wireless mouse (which will be specifically marked as Bluetooth, and will cost more), yes, generally they come with a standard Bluetooth dongle that you plug into your computer.

Thanks Aluvus.

So what other wireless mouses are there?

There is Bluetooth which can be used with other bluetooth items.
There is the one i mentioned above which pretty much is just between the adapter and mouse
What else is out there?

P.S. how do these mouses get charged? Do I have to buy batteries or are they automatically charged via the wireless technology

Not all bluetooth wireless mice have adapters which are also multi-function bluetooth dongles, some are proprietary bluetooth mice receivers.

You cannot charge something wirelessly across bluetooth. You have to either buy rechargeable batteries and charge them (or normal batteries and replace them) or the mouse itself will be rechargeable and have a lead or dock you plug it into every so often.

(And it's "mice")

There's about a gazillion wireless mice. If you're going to be using this with your new notebook, may I suggest this Logitech VX Revolution. It uses a regular AA battery.
Some mice come with a docking station, like this MX Revolution, and some use replaceable batteries.
