I think I'd be better off to backup all my important stuff and nuke the drive & start fresh. Right? What do you think?

So I just goto Gateway Recovery Management and burn Factory Default Disc and Driver & app disc.

So I have the OS & such and won't have to order the discs from Gateway er Acer.

Then nuke my hard drive with like DBAN, install Vista then Windows 7 clean install?

Right????

BTW I had no freaking clue I could burn the recovery discs from the hidden partition back up. Saves me time from ordering the discs from Gateway.

I wish I would have known this when I first got the PC. Was their some documentation I missed that explained this? Seriously?

What exactly are you trying to do? Here's what I can make out: Make recovery disk, reinstall Vista, then Upgrade to Win7?

Why reinstall Vista? What version vista to what version Win7? Why clean install?

Unfortunately, PC makers don't publicize the value of making those recovery disks.

Are your Win7 Upgrade disks GATEWAY disks, or are the generic type you get from Microsoft or buy at a store?

Got my PC last December so I missed the free upgrade.

I got the Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade from the Sale back in July from NewEgg.com
