Question about webcams for Mac/PC

I have a PC here at school, and my girlfriend wants to get an ibook. I was told by the people in the mac store that she needs to get the mac webcam, and that i currently won't work with other webcams. I go to the mac section of newegg, and one of the featured items was the same webcam we both use now. The Logitech Quickcam pro 4000. Will that work between PC and Mac? We are both using MSN messenger right now, and it works great. I'm not sure if MSN messenger for mac has the webcam options like the PC one does. Anyone know if this will work?
