Yup. The adapter supplies a *maximum* of 300mA @ 6V. Anything that requires a lower current will be fine.

Yes. The voltage supplied by the adapter must be the same as required by the device; the current rating must be equal to or higher than the device spec (the device will only draw what it needs).

Edit: the supply type (AC or DC) must be correct, and if DC, the polarity must be correct as well. Are you sure the device you're trying to power runs AC?
