Question about USPS losing a package...

i sent a package via media mail last wednesday. printed the delivery confirmation and shipping info on paypal the day before (tues.). there is no status change on the website. it still says that they were electronically notified by the shipper. the person i shipped the package too also confirmed they did not receive it, and they are in the same state.

i shipped 3 other packages that same day and all have arrived.

today i called usps to investigate and they gave me some claim#. how long will they take to get back to me? what happens next? any help/info appreciated.
 
yea i know media mail claims to take long, but i've never had it take over a week.

i sent 2 packages to the east coast that same day and they've both arrived.

this package that is "lost" was only going about 50 miles away from where i am.

anyone know much about usps policy/red tape/crap and how long it'll take to get a response.

I sent a media mail package across FL and it took about a week and a half.
