Question about using 2 monitors of different sizes + resolution

If I have a 27" LCD and a 24", will I be able to use the max resolution on each one if I have a video card with an adapter to get 2 displayport connections from it?

What video card, and what are the monitors? And you plan on using 2 outputs on the video card, correct? Sorry, OP was a little confusing to me.

If the card has two (or more) separate connections, yes, you'll be able to do this without a problem. If you're using a Y adapter of some sort, then no, they would simply mirror each other.

Was wondering the same thing. I want a 1440 monitor and duplicate the image on my 1080p TV. 7970 with HDMI, 2 DVI, and Dp.

Works fine on the desktop in my sig, and the laptop (Lenovo W530). Both machines run Nvidia cards, but I would think they all have the feature now. I have an old Acer monitor that runs a now-odd resolution.

I have this card Nvidia NVS 300 Graphics (PCIe x16)
and I am going to use this connector to get 2 displayport outputs
HP DMS-59 to Dual DisplayPort Adapter X XP688AA

Yes, it appears that adapter should provide the two supported displayports via your video card's DMS connector, so each displayport should be capable of driving its own display independently of the other. but make sure you don't spend more on the adapters than you would on just buying a new video card that would do what you want without adapters.
