Question about USB vs. PS/2

Are there any good's or bad's with the two types?(Performance wise)I just bought a new mouse thats USB but I have a PS/2 converter.Just a honest question.

EDIT:Lately my PS/2 port isnt working.It doesnt read my mouse when I plug it in with the converter...or even when I try a PS/2 mouse.Out of the 4 USB ports at the back of my tower...only the ones on the right side work.The two USB ports at the fron work perfectly.
 
The performance is the same as far as your perception of it. Its really just a matter of saving a usb port or two by putting your mouse into a mouse port rather than a non-essential peripheral port.
 
Unless the PS/2 adapter came with the mouse it is unliky to work as the mouse has to have sensing circuitry inside to detect what it's connected to. And it will say on the package that it will work with both. And re. the PS/2 ports, they are not like USB ports (it was stupid that they used the same sockets for both). The one near the midline of the ports panel is for the mouse only and the one near the edge of the ports panel is for the keyboard only - and they could be color-coded: green for mouse, purple for keyboard. If you haven't been using the PS/2 ports for anything before, it is possible that one or both of them could be disabled in the BIOS setup.

And if you've ben plugging stuff in the PS/2 ports willy-nilly, you could have blown the fuse or other circuitry of the PS/2 ports (and that may explain why some of the USB ports aren't working too. That is another dissimilarity to USB ports - you should never plug or unplug anything into/from the PS/2 ports when powered up.

I prefer to use the PS/2 ports if present. 1- leaves the USB ports for faster devices. 2- Uses dedicated ports whose resources are not shared with any other device (and which aren't normally released even if you disable them in the BIOS). Besides, it's what I'm used to...

Some people say in theory the usb mouses should be faster. PS/2 and aux (keyboard) transmit data over legacy buses.
 
I dont know, I noticed more responsive clicking in FPS games when I have my mx510 plugged in to usb, so idk. I might have not been using the right converter?
