Question about TV-Tuners

i was reading up on this tv tuner and was wondering what kind of channels i would get

i have basic cable in NYC. ppl talk about HDTV/OTA-HDTV and other stuff, just wondering would i get those channels.

You would get your basic cable services plus your local HD channels as it is an FCC rule that they be provided for free. And since the card has a QAM tuner.

EDIT: Just to be clear the HD channels will come through with your standard cable, so no external antenna is needed.

what if i only used an antenna?

and would i need to use a splitter to get a cable to my computer?(illegal?)
