Question about tulips

This girl i know from work is having a graduation party. I asked her if she wanted anything in particular and she said she didnt want anything. Later that week she was telling me how she loves tulips.

How do you give someone tulips? Do you buy cut ones? Or should i buy her ones in a pot? Shes fairly young, 29, and i feel like a potted plant seems like a gift for my grandma. But cut tulips seem like a waste.

Any ideas?

I would like to "impress" her. Im the only guy she knows that treats her like a friend/lady and not a potential piece of ass. But being 23 i dont think shes interested, but i still like to try.

<<insert obligatory "tiptoe" joke here>>

...and yeah, buy cut ones from local florist. Bulbs are kind of a pain to deal with.

Dosent matter if YOU think cut tulips are a waste, if she loves them, then spring for the nicest bunch you can afford! Flowers to girls mean alot!

I say cut. But I'm just trying to justify the fact that I'm getting my gf cut tulips when she comes home from Thailand on Wed haha!

LMFAO!!!! *Exact* same thing happened to me yesterday and I thought of this thread. Went to get the gf a "welcome home" bouquet and said "Got any tulips? No, they aren't in season anymore."

Ended up with a mixed bag of late spring flowers include some very sweet smelling cow lillies.

Get a dozen cut tulips, a dozen potted (and sprouted) tulips, and a dozen bulbs.

Then put em all in the blender.

Then put what you get in a nice tupperware bowl thing WITH a lid.

Then tap dat ass.

I looked at ftd.com and they aren't carrying them. This is what I found at 1800flowers.com. I haven't searched anywhere else yet. Tulips are one of my favorite kinds of flowers. I would also say to have them cut. 🙂

Hmmm.... females in here will have to let me know if this sounds okay... (it's what I would do in your situation)... Just honestly tell her that you knew she liked tulips and you searched everywhere for tulips for a bouquet of cut tulips, but to no avail. You even had friends and strangers online help you look!. Then, surprise her with a huge assortment of top quality tulip bulbs. Tell her that now she can have all the tulips she wants every spring and she can remember you every time she cuts a bunch. Offer to help her plant them at the proper time (fall)... (bonus points for that... plus it creates a "date")

Females? What do you think?

Do *NOT* attempt this at home. You cannot possibly make it through this scenario without getting egg all over your face. "Couldn't find tulips.....you FORGOT to find them!"
