Traveling has come into pickup ball too. People expect to be able to emulate kobe/dwade/lebron and do the same things. You call traveling in a pickup game and get challenged to a fight. It's ridiculous, and for people to take the NBA seriously again they have to change this rule.

I think it gets allowed because it looks and feels so natural since everyone's been doing it forever. It makes no sense to me why they crack down on this ridiculous "no touch" defense policy but not this traveling crap. Non-star players get away with it too, but because they don't dribble as often they travel less.

Most popular and abused form of travel: Jabstep with your pivot foot, pick up other foot and go in the other direction, before putting the ball on the floor. NBA lets it slide, college too. They call this often in high school though.

I'm not a stickler for traveling if say, the ball is being brought up the court or when there is no pressure on the offensive player. But when the situation above happens, it's almost impossible to guard if the offensive player is fast enough to make u respect his jabstep.
