Question about touchpad on Thinkpads

Not sure this is hardware or software related, but is there a way to increase sensetivity for the touchpad on IBM Thinkpad? As it is, I need to move my finger across the pad twice to move the pointer from one side of the screen to another.

I tried looking through mouse and touchpad properties but couldn't find anything. I could post a screenshot of touch pad config dialog if that would help.
