Doesn't the wavefront get weaker when the distance is greater though?It's wide multiband into the hundreds of MHz.
The hissing and crack goes into the teens of kHz with a predominate midrange crack going down into the 100's. The wavefront that follows goes into the single digits and picks up amplitude with reflections off hard terrain. Some of the best house shaking rumbles occur from strikes miles away, for example.
