The AM2+ soket is identical with AM2, so the mounting mechanism is the same. There is no performance loss or anything. If the cooler fits an AM2 mobo it will fit an AM2+ mobo with no differences whatsoever.

I used that exact cooler on my Phenom 9850. At 2.8GHz, 1.41v the max I saw was 63C. A little warm for my taste at that voltage, but it did the job, it was 100% stable. Not bad for a relatively cheap cooler.

Wasn't the shut off temperature at 65C?

I honestly am not sure. Most benching kept it at exactly 60C, one day I saw 63C while running something for another forum member here. I know have a Scythe Ninja copper, stays in the low 50's now.
