Question about The Godfather (books)

If the first film was based on the book of the same name, what were the other two films based on? I saw a book called The Sicilian, but that does not look like the same story as GF2.

tnx

The first two movies were based on the book, I think. The third was the brainchild of a Puzo-Coppola collaboration (or some would say abortion).

actually, the first two movies were only partially based on the book. i would say the book inspired the first movie and parts of the second, but a lot of the second was made up outside the book. the sicilian is supposed to deal when michael is in sicily, kind of a "shadows of the empire" thing ("shadows" was a star wars story that took place inbetween empire and jedi, for those who aren't nerdy enough :))
