I bought this laptop when it was on sale last week for $599 for my sister.
After a few days of playing with it, I very impress with the laptop.
I think its one of the prettiest looking 14" laptop around.
I unstalled all the craps, took one of the 512mb rams out and added a 1gb(total 1.5gb) and it runs like a champ.
Even with just 1gb of rams, it still rans like a champ with vista.

- I wished it would come in 1440x900 resolution cause I'm so used to running 1920x1080 that 1280x800 is too little space for me.
- The keyboard kinda flex and seems clackity(if thats even a word) but thats minor.

In my opinion, its the best $599 deal around.
Had it comes in 1440x900, I would have bought one for myself even though I have a HP nc8430.

Sorry, about XP.
Why not try it. The worst thing you can do is reinstall everything with the recovery disk.

I recommended the same laptop to my wife's mother and grandmother a few months back when vista came out and best buy had it on sale for $550. I was actually very surprised about its performance once i took out all the bloatware. You should give vista a try, I was very surprised on its stability over the past couple of months. But other than its one of the nicest cheap laptops I have come across in a while.
