I just cant see how takeing private ladn and giving it to private company's is legal. It goes against everything the Founding fathers stood for.

Look at it this way. We now have a neverending energy source from the founding fathers spinning in their graves.

But seriously, this thing scares the $hit out of me. Are we going to just take it? This kind of thing would have started a civil war back when people weren't so complacent with their boring lives.

I was thinking about this last night. In this day and age of technology...how the hell could you organize a civil war? You'd be labeled a terrorist and sent away. And if you did try to organize a grassroots campaign, technology would allow you to be infiltrated so easily that it would be almost impossible to wage an old school style civil war.

Yep, pretty much. About the only thing you could do is hunker down somewhere very isolated until it got bad enough that someone else with nukes took care of it.

Man, the more I think about this issue, the more loopholes I see that can screw people.

Someone has a single family dwelling and someone else comes along and says they want to build a duplex on the site. More taxes for YOU!

Bang, you are out of there.

And I would NEVER want to buy in a area zoned commercial residential, anyone comes along and wants to build a commercial enterprise where your house sits.

BANG you are out of there.

This is some scary sh!t going on here...

Anyone who own beach font property is at risk.

Ever been to the Oregon coast? Lots of small older homes with beach front property over there. I fear for those home owners.

Can still rally behind people that are not part of the the cronies doing this.

Do you think the Founders thought resisting England, and MLK said "WERE FVCKED"???

Different times.

As it is now post 9/11 if you do ANYTHING the government dislikes they can and will label you a terrorist.

Once you are considered a Terrorist the majority of the people will hate you for it. Not to mention the amount of disinformation that the government will/can put out.

But i do have to say If this had happened 50+ years ago there would be a severe backlash against the government. today? people with rant on bulletin boards because there is not much else to do.

NO $$ no say.

The house I live in.. it was built as a two family dwelling. It went from two family, to one family back to two family.. then one family with a shop front and back to one family.

The ppl who used it as a shop front had it classified as a commerical property. The ppl who bought it from them, kept it that way. So have we. Dunno know why.. just the b/f said it is good to have it that way. Said we could easily change it to strictly residential... but once it is residential, it would be too hard to make commerical. So, we live in a commerical dwelling.

As I mentioned in P&N, when DOT's appropriate property, they have laws and regulations that are mandated by federal and state government so that it minimizes people getting screwed. This is only because it has become so common to appropriate property for building highways - read no one in government wants literally thousands of upset taxpayers. Hell, the Federal Highway Administration even audits such things as negotiation procedures, appraisals, relocation payments, etc. to ensure fair treatment of those appropriated if federal money is involved.
This is not the case for local governments or private corp.?s given appropriation powers by state law. You can hardly count the ways a local politicians and private corp.'s can find to make a buck off this system.

ED is cool in the hands of the feds and some state agencies. In the hands of most of the state and local governments, it's downright dangerous.

If the federal government wants this house for some reason, they're welcome to it; they pay well.

If the state or county wants it... They can have it sometime after the national guard turns it from a steep hill to a smoking crater.
