Question about the 9800 np...

Bought one yesterday at Circuit City...

After loading the drivers and rebooting the machine I get a desktop help window that pops up.
The heading is... Using TV Display

I don't have the card set for this, but this pops up every time I boot up. The check box is marked
for showing the window at start up when TV display is enabled. But I can't find where it has been
enabled. When going into settings and displays, it only shows a monitor as being installed.
Nothing on the other 3 options...

Any thoughts? Is this just a standard box that pops up and by unmarking the check box, it will
just go away... or will it leave something activated and possibly slow down the performance of the
card?

Thanks.

Thanks...

Also... as an aside...

I also purchased one of the BFG 5900 nu's, when BB had them for $249 less $50 rebate.

Luckily I hadn't sent in the rebate form or anything yet. I returned it today.

I just like the way my desktop looks and a few of my games are running smoother than with the 5900.

How's the card? I'm thinking about stopping by CC on the way home and picking one up. :)

But I'm STILL LOOKING for benchies that compare the NP with the PRO... :( no luck.

Here's a new issue of these monthly benchmarks, which compare *everything*. I wish their testing was more expanded, but considering the number of cards they test, it's not bad.

My card did the same thing after I installed the 3.9 drivers, even with the TV out clearly disabled. I just cleared the checkbox and forgot about it.

You might also get lucky with a 9800nonpro and get one that can run these speeds stock (just a bios flash): 450/411

This quite a bit faster than an XT and it smokes a PRO ;)

good luck with the card.

On a Non-Pro?

GPU going from 325 to 450??
Memory going from 290 to 411??

That's reaching man... Really Reaching!

Yeah, really reaching, my core barely hits 430MHz totally stable.

If he got lucky with some Samsung 2.8 or nice 3.0ns RAM, the memory is viable (just), and the 9800 cores can easily get way in excess of 400MHz, I had mine at 445MHz, but it wasn't totally stable.

I have 430/325 (Infineon 3.0ns RAM - totally sucks)

I have the 3dmark2k3 with a 448/412, don't have the system right now (packed away) but I was able to get it to 452/412 before artifacting.

It's really amazing because my old 9700nonpro with the samsung 2.8ns would not do over pro speeds but this sapphire 9800np 3.3ns is just amazing!

here's the link for the 3dmarkscore.

IT's a stock sapphire 9800nonpro with a bios flash.

The only other card that came close was my old 8500LE that I volt modded (core and memory) it did 325/325 stock.

I do have a huge server chassis with 13 fans and a 120 cool air intake in the sidepannel blowing directly on the VGA-but the card itself is stock.

The card has been flashed with a powercolor PRO bios that is why it is listed as a (pro) in the splash screen.

Make sure the 9800np you get is the right card. I just grabbed the last one from CC and it was a 9800SE labelled as a 9800np.:(
