What phone do you think of when you think of texting on a cell phone? I have always thought that the Sidekick was synonymous with texting. WITHOUT JUST SAYING WHAT YOUR PHONE MODEL IS, please tell me what phone you think of when you think of texting on a cell phone.

when i think of texting on a phone, i think of me texting. therefore i think of whatever phone i have atm.

currently samsung eternity.

BlackBerry 8330 (Curve), great texting phone except that most providers will probably require you to have a data plan (if this is something you don't need).

enV is the first one that comes to mind, since when i was looking for a keyboard phone to text with that was the better one available to me.

i have an omnia now, touchscreen qwerty winmo phone. pretty much i cant think of any phone that wouldnt fall into the class of being a texting phone.

Nokia 3300

Not the first phone I owned, but it was the first one I liked. Mostly for the texting but also for the music player. I managed to get a 128mb MMC card for a reasonable price and I could listen to music all day long. Could also set full length mp3's as ringtones which (amazingly) is still not standard with many phones today. Only downsides were proprietary headphone jack and the bulk. It was about the same size as an N-Gage, but not nearly as powerful. No camera but I never liked cell cameras anyway.

I played with an E71x recently and that wasnt nearly as nice for texting. Buttons were small and mashed together. For me, they have to be huge and seperate.

Other than that the phone was awesome.

EDIT: I have gone through an Env2 and Voyager in the past year, but they both suck in general so I dont think of them as texting phones, but rather useless lumps.

I don't really think of any specific phone.

This.

I consider texting obsolete with the advent of data plans. Now you use IM, which moronically people still pay text messaging rates for with the "custom IM apps" on the phones.

Well since you stated what you think it is associated with, you ruined my data sample because now I can't think of what I would've associated it with if you didn't mention it. 😛

Most phones today are just fine for texting. One can become very speedy once familiar with the T9/predictive text feature. It takes a few days to get your legs, but once you're used to a phone, you're off to the races.

I personally use a BlackBerry Bold, and I love it. I used to have a T-Mobile G1, and it was awful. I tend to stay away slider phones, simply because they always wear out over time. I've had 2 Berries, and I will never go back to anything else.
