Question about taxes...

I understand that every year it's time to file a tax return. What I don't get is why people have to pay tax with their return.

You get taxed on every paycheque you earn, you pay tax on everything you buy, and then at the end of the year if you have made some certain amount of money, you have to pay even more tax... it seems weird to me.

If they didn't figure their exemptions right, either purposely or not, then they haven't paid all of the tax they owe...

if you don't take out the "right" amount from each paycheck you'll owe more taxes
