question about submitting text resumes...

i have a nicely formatted text resume when expanded...

my question is, you know how some company sites require that you paste it into this small box? well i paste my resume into that small box and it gets horribly disfigured... should i format my resume such that it looks perfect in the small box or should i just paste it the way it looked originally?

i just leave it screwed up and send my resume to the interviewer as a word doc.
