Question about Sound Cards

I'm running the Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 sound card. I plan on upgrading to the Audigy ZS. I have Creative 5.1 speakers and a pair of Sennheiser HD-280's. I was wonder how I could easily switch between the two while I'm useing my computer? Can I have the Speakers and Headphones hooked up at the same time and just change the ouput of my sound? Any suggestionss?

Hmm I was wondering the same thing. I'm planning on hooking up my cheapo logitech 5.1 setup to the onboard sound and using my cheapo kinyo 5.1 headphones on my audigy 2 zs. Argh I wish my mobo didn't come doa.

get a 1/8" splitter from radioshack and plug it into your front channel. those switches add a lot more extra wire, and usually cheap wire at that - thus leading to crappier quality.

1. That splitter there means that they will both always be on, hes looking for a way to switch between headphones and the speakers.

2. The splitter will also split the signal power, meaning that the fronts will be out of balance while the headphones are plugged in.

3. Even the cheapest wiring you can find wont sound any different on this kind of equipment.

damn, thats gonna be a future prob for me too if i ever upgrade. turtle beach santa cruz did something right when they made the versa jack.. dunno why its not copied more. plug in headphones into versa and speakers into speakers. switch outputs using software .. its part of the volume control software. damn convenient with my hd497
