question about Smart media ID features

Recently when i was checking the specs of the samsung 64mb smart media card--they specify : SmartMedia? ID function compliant for copyright protected application. What i want to find out is what does this mean? So now you cant put your mp3s onto the media because of this id thingy? Or does depend on the player?
Or someone who know a lot about this can shed some light about this? please?
