question about SETI, SETIQ and LINUX

do i have to start BOTH the patched seti cli and setiq using wine? if so, which file do i need to edit to start both of them automatically?
 
I would think that the SETI client wouldn't care how it connects to SetiQ but I'm not sure. Shouldn't matter if it's using WINE or not as long as it's working.

As far as what to do to start them automatically, I dunno. I'd say throw them in the startup folder or run them as a service but I use Windoze. 😉

thanks robor.just wanted to make sure. linux is even faster than windoze. i *hope* to get a 4hr average under linux.
 
What version of Linux are you running? I would like to setup a Linux client on my home network.

I've run Red Hat 5.? but never got into it. Now I want to try Linux again. Did you download it or is your release available online? I've got a box that doesn't do anything but SETI and I want to give Linux another try, even if it's just to play/learn with.

BTW, your average WU time is sweet. Unfortunately I got greedy and assimilated some pathetic P2-300 boxes. Times aren't so bad on them until you get a program hanging for a few days! Come back on a Monday to find one of them processing a WU with 79hrs in process and a bunch more to complete! :Q That'll mess up your average. I used to kill the process, client, *.sah files, and restart, but now it's too much trouble. I just reboot the PC and live with the WU avg. hit. At least I get another WU, right? 😉

i'm using mandrake 8.0.

yeah the times are nice. my current average is 6h25min. i just picked up a tbird 1.2@1.5 for $140, and as soon as the mobo arrives i'll put it to work.
 
installation and extras. you only NEED the first one, but the second one has applications and other goodies.

I've got the extras download started. Only 2MB more so why not. As long as I can install it that's cool. Unfortunately I've got a ship down right now. Maybe a hardware problem as I've tried Win2K Server and Win2K Pro without success. We'll see.
