question about roulette

Okay if you bet on odds or even aren't your chances are 50/50?

So say you want to bet a maximum of two times. On average, shouldn't the individual come back out with what they had to play with because 50/50 on two bets, you should lose one and win one right? (thus evening out)

Therefore on first bet if you win then you should leave (and be happy). If you lose then bet again and logically you should win this time, bringing you back to what you came in with?

There is also 0 and 00 (which are green) so there is a chance of losing altogether.

the house always has an advantage, just remember that...you have a 47% chance of winning on a red/black bet

Personally a fan of the threes.

We had casino night every year in HS with an auction at the end (one of those charity things) and when they called last bet I was doing pretty good but nowhere near good enough for the good stuff so I just placed everything on the red. They ended up having to go get more of the play money from the blackjack tables to pay me.

If it had been 50/50 though, on AVERAGE, two runs should end up neutral

You're right that on average two runs should cancel each other out, but you are more likely to see "average" results with a large number of trials. The way you've described it, I wouldn't go betting the paycheck. You still have > 25% chance of losing the whole thing.

Yeah I realize that. In reality I probably couldn't build up the nerve to do it anyhow but it would be fun. Imagine instantly getting a thousand bucks for nothing (of course you could easily lose a thousand bucks) but yeah...

The ones that divide the board into three, don't know what else to call it. The three columns and the three 12s.

3s pay 2 to 1, as opposed to red/black that pays 1 to 1. I play the 3s too.
