Hi, currently I'm thinking of putting together 2 100 gig drives for a raid system when I build my new comp (a fewm onths down the road, but plannig it now) and I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice.

I am thinking of using raid 0 currently; if I ever have important documnets they get backed up immediately so theres next to no isk of loss, not to mention I do most of my important document work on my laptop (Prefer not to have confidential documents anywhere near the net :) )

Is this a good choice, or is there any other solution that is quite as fast

Yeah just grab yourself 6 SCSI drives and put them into a RAID 0 array... better access times than IDE and more speed as well...

Have fun.

As far as I know, raid 0 is definately the fastest raid setup for 2 HDDs if you don't want to go crazy with SCSI . Good luck on your new system, it's gunna rock with that kind of hardware

raid0 is by far the fastest raid, but also the least reliable. if you're just concerned about speed and not the safety of your data, that's the way to go. a safer way to do it is to get 3 or 4 drives, a promise raid/ide controller card and use raid5. that way you gain both speed and redundancy.
