So at work i have a Quadro FX 1700. I would like to play games when i'm not working but the performance is kinda iffy. are there special drivers to use? I am currently using the 169.47 forceware.

If this is the best it gets with this card, then ok. but if there's a better solution i'd like to know.

You should really just stick with whatever the latest WHQL certified drivers are for your card, otherwise you may affect performance in your work applications.

EDIT: Keep in mind that the FX1700 is really only an 8600 with custom BIOS + drivers optimized for CAD type work. So don't expect great things from it for gaming (the 128-bit GDDR2 really limits bandwidth so if you can run lower resolution that could help).

It should be noted here, that some Quadro cards could be operated as if they were their Geforce equivilant, using the Geforce drivers, and the Forceware version number seems to show that's what is being done here, already. I'm not sure how well this change holds true for every Geforce and Quadro generation, but AFAIK, most from the 6*** and 7*** generations could use the "regular" drivers as well as the Quadro ones, just not as efficiently as if the BIOSes hadn't been amended.
