Question about printer/storage servers

plug it into a networked computer, or buy an enclosure built for NAS. I suppose if that print server is running stright samaba you MIGHT be able to get it, but it's doubtfull. You have a round hole, and a square peg. Either you need a new hole, or a new peg to make it work...shoving is only going to make you mad.

Ok, so there are no network storage servers (cheap)? and I have many PCs, I want it running always. NAS enclosures aren't that good, and are expensive. I would think that it would cost less to pull the NAS circuitry out of them and stick a ethernet and USB port on them.

just plug it into a computer that is always on and share the drive, giving permissions where necessary. it is simple yet effective.

That's the best way to do it. Especially if you have extra PCs not doing much. Just turn one into your File Server.
