Question about POST not sure if it is CPU related

I have installed the motherboard with hard drive and cpu, memory and also cdrom drive. When I start it up the computer I hear the hard drive spin and its being accessed but that is it. No beeps or video. I am going to get the 2600 XP Barton tomorrow. The cpu is an old one I took out of a computer a few months ago not sure if i took it out improperly to cause it not to work. Just like to know if anyone has any ideals or suggestions. If the CPU is not working would the harddrive be accessed?

Have you tried reseating the video card, or if it's integrated checking the connection and that there are no bent pins.

I tried that and the same thing happens. Do you think the cpu is good??

Do you have another processor to put in it for testing? If not you may have to wait until you get the other to know for certain.
