Question about pokers chips

I'm helping plan a Casino Night Party and we need to buy some chips. I have a few questions.

Is there really a difference betwen 7.5 and 11.5 and higher chips?

We plan on having multiple tables; poker, blackjack, etc. how many chips would be recommended for each table (about five people per table)?

Are card shufflers worth it?

what site or store would have the best deal.

thanks

I have the 11.5g chips clay composite.

They have the more real feel to it.
Comparing with real clay chips from the real casinos, there is some difference in the feel, but the weight is almost similar.
They sound a lil different when you splash the pot tho 😀

drunk chicks with skimpy clothing will negate the effects of cheap quality poker chips, or will facilitate the change to clothing as tender

If you play that infrequently, just buy cheap plastic chips. People who buy expensive clay chips to play nickel and dime home games are idiot poseurs.

i'll go with the inexpensive ones. its an annual neighborhood party at our common clubhouse, i'm guessing about 75 guests.

in the poker chip world, i've learned that those "11.5g composite clay, with metal inserts" chips that everyone gets are pretty crappy.

i'm guessing you don't want high-end clay or ceramic chips which would cost around $1 per chip.

if you're looking for large quantity, and most bang for your buck, check out these "faux clay" chips: http://www.discountcasinogear.com/store/product893.html
they have no metal insert, so they sound nearly identical to casino clay chips when thrown around. they also stack really well, which is a sign of a good chip. best of all, the price is very, very nice at $0.045 per chip. these chips have a real strong following among die-hard, nutty poker chip folks:

i say, buy the Faux Clay chips, save some money and spend more money on booze 🙂
