Question about playstation plus

I have a ps3 and have noticed that they say you get a bunch of instant games with a subscription and get new games every month. Do the new games you get every month stay on your account or does it reset at the end of the month? And do you think it is worth the 50 bucks a year?

The games you get free are playable as long as you are still a member of PSN+. They don't reset at the end of the month, they're still playable as long as you already downloaded them and are still a member. If your membership runs out, the game can't be played, BUT if you resubscribe those games become playable again. Also, if you purchase any game through a PSN+ discount you get that game forever regardless of if you stick with PSN+ or not.

What I don't know is, if you delete the free game from your hard drive after it's been offered for free, do you get the option to redownload again or are you SOL unless you keep it on your drive?

I just started my first year, because they're running a deal where you get 3 months free with a purchase of a year. Plus I have both a PS3 and a Vita so I get a little more out of it. IMO it'll be worth it because I'll play some of these games for a little while but they rarely hold my attention, so I feel like I'll get my moneys worth paying $50 per year for multiple free games instead of $50 for just a couple games (at best) I may not like for long.

At least from what I can tell, yes. To actually get the free game, you have to "buy" it from the store, but it's denoted as a free, usage-restricted game. The usage restriction is just that you have to be a Playstation Plus member to play it. I've actually purchased every single free game on Sony's new website-based store, and the games just show up in my download list in the Playstation Store on my PS3 and Vita.

I believe Ninja Gaiden Sigma (Vita) is one of this week's free games, and I've been tempted to get that too.

I'll have to download Ninja Gaiden then too, but I was also looking for Gravity Rush and that helped my decision. Retro City Rampage is a good one too (cross-system saves) which I actually bought before I went on PSN+. Still worth it though.

Only if it supports Cross Play, but then it's really playing a game that has a PS3 and Vita version.

PS+ is a great service. All you need to do is just checkout or purchase the games, you don't need to d/l them until you want to play them. If you don't purchase it, and it goes off PS+ then you won't get access to it later.

The 1 GB online storage for the PS3 and a separate 1GB online storage for the Vita is also nice and works well.

I got a Black Ops Vita Bundle on sale to get a Vita, and haven't bought a game yet. I have Black Ops on card, and bought a 16GB mem card for which I have Gravity Rush, Uncharted, Retro City Rampage, Foosball, FF Tactics, Ninja Gaiden, Wipeout 2048, Jet Set Radio, and Mutant Blobs attack from PS+ membership. There were a couple others, but I've already dumped them. Then, I carried over Killzone Liberation PSP and Front Mission 3 PS1 Classic onto my Vita from my old PSP days. So, I have a great variety of games on it.

And...that's just my Vita. Don't get me started on the massive list of PS+ games on my PS3.

The business guy in me wonders how Sony is actually making PS+ work and be profitable. The idea isn't immediately obvious, otherwise they would have done it sooner. Plus, it's also encouraging me not to buy games since I might end up getting them for "free" on PS+ eventually. How is that good for Sony? The only benefit is they get $50/year out of you while giving away far more than an equivalent of $50 worth of games. Just seems odd and "too good to be true".

Maybe that's why they've been offering some Vita games recently? I'm finding myself rather strapped for space on my free 8GB card, so what am I going to do? Delete stuff off my Vita or hunker down and buy a new card? The prior is more practical, but the latter gives me the room to hoard all of my new, free, preeeecious games.

Interestingly enough, the worst offenders in regard to using space (for me) are the PSX games Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy IX.

yep, good until March 4th. Works through PS Store, or those cards at WalMart/Amazon/Best Buy and the like and it stacks to the end of your current membership. Mine renews in June, but I'm going to buy it first of March which will set me up for Oct 2014 for renewal.

Well, I haven't touched my PS3 in months and the free 3 month deal finally got me to jump on a year because I do use my Vita. So now they've gotten $50 from me they wouldn't have gotten otherwise. The games I'm getting for free are not games I would have gone out and bought really so far, so it's mostly profit for them. It's the same argument that can be made for piracy stats. Just because something was downloaded X millions of times doesn't mean they would have sold X million copies.

I have a 16gig and am strapped for space too. I've seen 32gig deals pop up on slickdeals every once in a while, so I'm hoping to catch another one of those. They've got me right where they want me.
