Question about peanuts

i know this is a strange question
i was eating a bag of peanuts and they were okay, except for one that was about the nastiest thing ive ever eaten.
it almost tasted like it was rotten or something, the taste is just...unexplainable.
it was sort of darker than usual, i seriously almost puked and had to run for water.
i can still taste it in my mouth...i think this has turned me off peanuts for a long time.
so my question is...what the hell was wrong with this peanut?
has anyone ever eaten a peanut like that or even know what im talking about?

i think ashes would taste better than that did.

Yeesh...I know exactly what you're talking about. I get one of those now and then in a can of salted peanuts or in peanut butter. Rotten peanuts = UGH.

same with sun flower seeds. once in a while you eat this really bitter stale piece that mkaes you wanna barf
