Question about pc game pads

I got a Nyko airflo ex to play grand theft auto: San an for the pc, and it works pretty good for that game, manual aim is a bit tought though. I have found that this aiming problem is evident in Counter strike also, and battlefield 1942. For precision aiming, are gamepads just not sensitive enough? I find it almost impossible to get a good shot in battlefield 1942, the reticle will go too far past my target or not close enough. This has been the case with two game pads/ controllers.
