Question about parking for those who go to UCLA

I got accepted to go for next year and I was hoping to bring my car so I could commute home whenever I wanted to, say on weekends and holidays, but after looking at the parking policies, it looks like parking permits are only allowed for commuter students and I will be living at campus housing. Am I right from reading this? If I am, is there anywhere i can garage my car or park my car?

I have no experience with UCLA, but in general if you're living anywhere on campus and you're a freshman you can't have a car. It seems to be standard procedure at most universities, at least around here. Only way around it is maybe if you have an injury/most demanding job ever/something of that nature.

You can get parking as an on campus resident. However, it is going to be a pain in the behind to get parking. The way it used to be is if you had a job off campus that was far enough away (and Santa Monica did not count) then you could get parking. They now require proof of this off campus job that you have to work I think 15 hours per week at.

No idea where you can garage park though. Try finding people who live in the apartments who aren't using their parking spot, and pay them for the spot. Most of the garages are for day use in Westwood Village.

Yeah going through campus for parking can be really difficult. I'd search on Craigslist for people that are giving up their apartment spots if you really want to have your car there.
