Question about our ears

...close our ears just as we close our eyes? I think it would be a nice feature of our anatomy to have a method of closing our ears ,a flap or sphincter or something. How does an anatomical changs like this come about, and will it ever? Does an anatomical change like this require conscious thought?

Our ears are meant to listen for lions, tigers, and bears. Not to swim 10m under the sea.

Well how did you vote? You don't think it is a good idea?

It will happen if a random mutation causes it to happen in a certain, or certain individuals.

It will become a part of our physiology if it benefits the species as a whole.

IOW, start swimming in the ocean and give it a few hundred million years.

It will never happen. you know why? EVOLUTION DOESN"T EXIST HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!~!!.

Seriously though,.

That would take a couple thousand years.

Is conscious thought required for something of this nature to occur?
