Question about Opteron installation

I mostly built my new computer today. (RAM is coming tomorrow.) I installed the Opteron 165 I got. I lifted the lever on the motherboard, lined up the arrows and it fell right in, didn't need to be pushed at all.

I made sure the chip was all the way in, and pressed the lever back down. When I did this, though, there was this... noise. It was like a squeak.

I'm just scared I broke something. ::scared::

You mean as your were pushing the lever down? DOn't worry, mine does the same thing, and it's normal. Near the end when I'm about to lock the lever it makes that squeak. Curious though, what mobo do you have?

Yup, It's just the tensioning cam inside the socket assembly doing its job, perfectly normal.

Well, there is some force involved in fixing 939 pins at once...that justifies some noise ;)
Don't worry, a little clicking and squeeking from the plastic socket is normal...
