Question about onboard sound w/ Epox 8K5A2

I disabled the onboard sound in the bios and stuck with my SB Live X-Gamer. I was wondering which one is better? I bought the SB a few years ago but I figured it's probably still better than any onboard junk. Am I right?

is it the 8k5a2+ or non+? there's a pretty big difference between those two. i've got the non+ and replaced a simple sb live and cannot tell the difference. i am not much of an audiophile when it comes to computers. i save that for the entertainment system. but i do play a lot of games where sound is important (thief2, hitman2, nolf2, etc), some music, and sometimes hook my electric/acoustic up to the input and use my comp as an amp with some effects for fun. my speakers are the altec lansing ATP3s. i like em.

best bet is to unplug that card and try it out and see if *you* notice a difference. if not, throw the SB in the fs/ft forums. thats what i did.
