I don't think people are angry that the name changed. I think they're ticked off because "Wii" is such a stupid name. The codename "Revolution" is a lot better than "Wii". OTOH, I thought iPod was a stupid name too.

yeah its pretty nuts. if it was named revolution i probably would have purchased it. but WII sounds too childish, so I doubt I will buy it now.

When I look at it I see WWI or WWII which for a company to make thier name so close to that isnt a great thing to do. IMO of couse its just every time I see it thats what pops in my head.
 
It doesn't matter what it's called I'm buying it and I'm calling it the revolution. If their's a tag or something that's says wii I'll rip it off and replace it 😛
 
I will not buy it because of the stupid name. My buying power is the only way I can voice my opinion to them, so I'll do that.

Well, if I ask people to come over and play something, I usually just say the game name, not the system name anyway...
 
I think it's stupid, but it doesn't really matter to me. As long as the system delivers, that's all I care.
 
now I can understand the move away from revolution. It would not have fit for a system name has well it implies a dramatic change, but from reports the Wii is more like an evolution.

But Wii just sounds wierd, stupid, I can't think of other words to describe it. would I buy it, maybe if its cheap and they actually come out with a Mario game. last we had was mario 64. mario sunshine does not count for the gamecube.

What a branding disaster, I hope whoever came up with that got fired for it. I wasn't going to buy it anyway, but it's plainly obvious that it is bad marketing.
 
the name sucks. i doubt very much i will buy it. the name is really bad. Unless it has some really good games i will pass.
 
The average age on this board is in the early 20s. Too bad the maturity in this topic is like 13 or so.
