Question About Nforce2 Chipset Based Mainboards

hello all i have a question regaurding Mainboards Based on the Nforce2 series of Chipsets... ive noticed they are a bit more pricey compared to theyre VIA competitors...My first question is would an ATI based Vidcard Have any problems with these chipsets,inotherwords would it favor an Nvida based card...my second question is this .....the boards arent too much more expensive but they come packed with features not everyone needs..but if u want the new Nforce2 400 ultra wich supports the 400 fsb, u are almost forced to pay for all those extra features..so is the Nforce2 chipset worth it considering some buyers will pay for features they may not want or need...

VIA does not have a product that can compete w/ nForce2 boards at the moment.

I have the Abit NF7-S. It is $124 shipped at newegg.com. The sound card on-board is btter than Creative sounds cards, and it has firewire, ethernet, USB2.0, etc.... So its like buying a high end sound card and getting a great motherboard that supports future athlons like the 3200+ and above.

And I am running a ATI videocard just fine.

the Epox 8RDA+ is perhaps the best budget nForce2 available. it also helps that it is an overclocker's wet dream. at $85, there is nothing that even comes close with a Via chipset with the power it has. don't forget you are getting builtin ethernet, high-end 6 channel sound, dual channel DDR, and 200MHz FSB support (and even higher, check out the impressive overclocks). i was a devoted Via user for years until this--and i am not going back.

OK so the A-Bit board really sounds like a good board...i have my eye on the MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR, but ive heard somthing about the power phasing MSI uses...is it true MSI only uses a 2 power Phase board...while all the other "big dogs" use a 4 or 6 Phase power board

No, most nforce2 boards use a 2-phase power circuit. This review of nforce 2 boards tells you what type of power circuit each board uses.
